Interline Brands CEO Michael Grebe, who recently opened the company’s new 275,000-square-foot distribution center, believes even better times are ahead.
“I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in this tough economy,” said Grebe. “We’re optimistic these moves bode well for the future.”
Jacksonville-based Interline Brands distributes maintenance, repair and operations products to customers that include apartment complexes, hospitals, professional contractors and maintenance professionals, he said.
The new distribution center is a significant, positive change to serve its clients, he said, because it will accommodate a larger inventory to meet additional demand.
“It ensures our clients will continue to receive the best customer service,” said Grebe.
The new center employs 88 people, of which 70 are new hires. He said Interline Brands employs 619 people in the area.
Officials were approached by different cities to establish the center, but Grebe chose to stay in its headquarters area.
The company didn’t seek or receive incentives to stay, said Grebe, and incentives weren’t a factor. He cited the city’s pro-business environment, its reputation as a logistics hub and the company’s relationship with the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstone, the chamber’s economic development arm.
“We really have a great relationship and they provided a lot of assistance,” said Grebe.
This week, the company will host its annual conference with major suppliers and business partners to showcase new products. “It really is an exciting time,” he said.
