from staff

St. Lukeís Hospital announced that it has changed its name to St. Vincentís Medical Center Southside, linking its network and brand to St. Vincentís HealthCare.

St. Lukeís Hospital, founded in 1873, became part of St. Vincentís HealthCare in 2008 but retained its name. It was founded by three women who saw the need for medical care in the community.

ďThe name change comes at a time of immense growth for St. Vincentís HealthCare. The system is preparing to open a third hospital in Clay County in the fall of 2013,Ē said Moody Chisholm, president and CEO of St. Vincentís HealthCare.

Donnie Romine is the president of St. Vincentís Medical Center Southside.

The St. Vincentís Southside sign will be put on the hospital building facing Butler Boulevard in the next few weeks.

St. Vincentís HealthCare includes St. Vincentís Riverside, St. Vincentís Southside, St. Catherine Labourť Manor, St. Vincentís Primary Care, Consolidated Laboratories, Advanced Patient Transportation, Seton Pharmacies and Consolidated Pharmacies.

St. Vincentís Medical Center was founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1916 to provide health services to the sick and the poor of North Florida.
