Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan talks business with JAXUSA Partnership
Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan aims to make Jacksonville a winner off the field as well as the team a winner on the field.
Khan told more than 1,000 people attending the JAXUSA Partnership quarterly luncheon Friday that he is “in training to be Jacksonville’s No. 1 salesperson” and will use his business travel and dealings abroad as an opportunity to pitch both the city and the team.
Khan said he will encourage international clients to find the city as he did — with a visit to experience the area firsthand.
“This is a great jewel waiting to be discovered,” he said.
As for his own business, auto parts manufacturer Flex-N-Gate, being a part of that off-field success, Khan said he will look at any opportunity that is a good business decision and sustainable.
“Stay tuned,” he said.
As for the business community supporting Khan and the team, JAX Chamber Chair Tom Van Berkel said businesses “would do everything we can to work with you” to make the Jaguars successful.
During the event, Deutsche Bank was honored as the quarterly “JAXUSA Partnership Industry Leader Award” for its business performance and corporate citizenship.
The company came to Jacksonville in 2008 and has expanded to almost 1,000 employees and a capital investment of nearly $16 million. It has also won awards related to supporting former military personnel in its “Veterans On Wall Street” program.
