City OK's Goozlepipe & Guttyworks construction

Riverside's restaurant evolution continues with the construction for Goozlepipe & Guttyworks and renovation of Kickbacks Gastropub along King Street.

The City approved a permit Friday for the $1.5 million construction project by Toney Construction Co. Inc. to build Goozlepipe & Guttyworks at 914 King St. and renovate Kickbacks at 910 King St.

The restaurant is across King Street from the recently opened Salty Fig Southern Gastropub at 901 King St.

Plans show Goozlepipe & Guttyworks will be two floors plus a basement and is next to the one-story Kickbacks.

The project totals 12,622 square feet of space.

According to plans, Toney Construction will build a 9,881-square-foot restaurant and renovate the 2,741 square feet of existing space.

The new restaurant will comprise a 3,409-square-foot lower level to include a barrel room and beer storage, a 3,803-square-foot main level and a 2,669-square-foot upper level.

The owner is The Rock of Avondale and architect is Lane Architecture. The food-service design is by JAX Design Group Inc.

Jersey Mikes plans Southside shop

The City is reviewing plans for a Jersey Mikes Subs at 3541 University Blvd. W., unit 1. Blankenship Construction & Development LLC is shown as the contractor for the $130,000 project, which is a build-out of 1,596 square feet. The location is at University Boulevard and St Augustine Road.

Dunkin' Donuts to South Mandarin

Plans were filed for a Dunkin' Donuts shop on a 1.11-acre site at 11857 San Jose Blvd. Peritus Civil Inc. of St. Augustine is the engineer and agent. The plans were filed with the St. Johns River Water Management district.

Starbucks buys Teavana

RestaurantNews.com announces Starbucks Coffee Co.'s planned acquisition of Teavana Holdings Inc. has formally closed, making Teavana a wholly owned subsidiary of Starbucks and the newest addition to the Starbucks portfolio, which includes Evolution Fresh, La Boulange, Seattle's Best Coffee and Tazo. Starbucks bought Teavana for about $620 million in cash.

Picnic Pizza plans Jacksonville Beach location

A new restaurant appears to be headed to Jacksonville Beach. Picnic of Jax Inc. filed with the state that it intends to do business as Picnic Pizza in Jacksonville Beach at 1720 N. Third St. Vincent Scavo is listed as president of Picnic of Jax Inc. The filing under the state fictitious name law was made Dec. 31.

Sake House sign

The City OK'd the wall-sign permit for Sake House at 3620 St. Johns Ave. Heritage Signs is the contractor for the $2,200 project.

Brazilian Corner making presence known

Also approved were a wall sign and a Brazilian flag for Brazilian Corner Brasil Do Sabor at 100 E. Forsyth St. The contractor for the $1,686 project is Facility Construction Corp.
