Before you read them below, consider that in the ad in The Florida Times-Union, RockTenn says it offers a competitive benefits package.
It says new employees commonly earn $40,000-$50,000 a year with company paid holidays, vacation, disability and life insurance; health, dental and vision plans, supplemental life, 401(k), pension plan and employee assistance program; in a team-based environment.
To be considered for a job offering all of that, the job requirements are:
• Proven record of performance
• Plays by the rules/gets along well with others
• Demonstrated the drive to achieve and move up in previous jobs
• Initiates his/her own learning
• Can handle the physical requirements (rotating shifts including weekends, heat, noise, can work inside, outside, etc.)
• High school diploma or GED.
• Has the mechanical, numerical and verbal aptitude to learn our jobs
• Have a minimum of 2 years full-time or part-time work experience
• Able to complete and submit a legible employment application
Applications will be accepted 4-7 p.m. Jan. 17-18 at Gate 5 of the mill at 9469 Eastport Road.
RockTenn says applications will be accepted only on those dates during those times and must be filled out at the mill. Incomplete or illegible applications will not be considered, and RockTenn asks applicants to bring the information necessary to complete the application on-site. A valid picture ID is required.
It's not unreasonable to expect that any employee, much less one that could make up to $50,000 a year, would be able to "play by the rules" or be "able to complete and submit a legible employment application."
It just seems unfortunate that those have to be stated as job requirements.
