Brown announced earlier last week that he would direct $9 million from a bond refinancing toward investment in Downtown, which was one of 10 subject areas analyzed at the event. “I am so happy we are focusing on Downtown like a laser,” he said.

About 450 participants gathered Saturday morning at the Osborn Center to draft vision statements for 10 subject areas and complete the second of five community events to create priorities for the JAX2025 process.

Participants gathered at designated topic tables to debate the 10 areas of the arts, Downtown and neighborhoods, diversity, economy, education, environmental, governance, health, people and transportation.

Each participant chose two topics and split the morning between them. Participants then worked with draft vision statements to refine them.

The next meeting is scheduled 6-8 p.m. March 19. The topic will be "Measuring Change: How Will We Know We Did It?"

After that, the 9-11 a.m. April 27 event will focus on "Partnerships. Who Makes JAX2025 Real?"

The JAX2025 release event of "Our Vision for Jacksonville in 2025' is scheduled 9-11 a.m. May 18.

All meetings are scheduled at the Osborn Center.
