Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford describes the alleged co-conspirators in the “Reveal the Deal” investigation Wednesday at the Jacksonville Police Memorial Building. Local, state and federal law enforcement officers uncovered an estimated $300 million racketeering and money-laundering scheme stemming from 49 illegal gambling centers operated by Allied Veterans of the World, according to a joint news release from the participating agencies. Alleged co-conspirators were Chase Burns, 37, software provider; Jerry Bass, 62, current national commander of Allied Veterans of the World; Johnny Duncan, 65, former national commander; and Kelly Mathis, 49, attorney and former The Jacksonville Bar Association president, who represented Allied Veterans.
