The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women honored its 2013 class Tuesday, honoring four innovators as part of its “Women Inspiring through Imagination: Celebrating Women In Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)” theme. The 2013 honorees were Inga Pinnix, science, a certified instructor of biology and chemistry at Sandalwood High School; Paula Risko, mathematics; a professor of mathematics at Florida State College at Jacksonville; Denise Ramsey, engineering, vice president and chief engineer at Haskell; and Lisa Davis, technology, CEO of Analytics Partners. A reception in their honor was held at the University of North Florida Thomas G Carpenter Library, where a designed commemorative poster was unveiled and will be placed in the permanent collection. The honorees were selected from nominations from individuals, women’s organizations, agencies and businesses.
