Home sales up from last year, down from past few months
Housing sales in September increased 25 percent from the same time a year ago, but were down some compared to the past several months.
The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors released housing sales information from last month that showed 1,691 closed sales. Lender-mediated sales continued to decline with almost 35 percent, or 590 sales, coming from the method while 1,101 were traditional sales.
Pending sales hit 1,950, up 25.1 percent last September.
The median sales price of $155,000 is up almost 18 percent year-over-year and matches May’s median, but is slightly down from the past three months.
Homes also are staying on the marker fewer days, averaging 80 days, down from 109 last September.
Almost 16 percent of homes sold last month were for more than the listed price.
“More sellers are beginning to list their homes — 2,625 new listening during September — but steady sales activity is keeping inventory at less than five months’ worth of inventory. Competition for properties is the name of the game these days,” said Carole Zingone, association president.
