Who will represent District 2 will be decided in November, after a recount today.
Scott Shine easily coasted into the November runoff, with more than 46 percent of the vote.
But the battle for the second runoff slot was a nail biter, with only three votes separating Sam Hall and Theresa Graham. That forced automatic hand recount.
Shannon Russell placed fourth in the contest.
Wright, who has served one term on the school board, said she was elated by the results.
“Some people thought that District 4 was disengaged and uninformed,” she said. “This race showed the people knew what they wanted, consistency and stability.”
Wright said she would work during her second term toward the continued increase of Duval’s graduation rates.
She said using a STEM-themed educational approach from elementary through high school would help students succeed.
School board member Becki Couch, who represents District 6, was uncontested in her bid for re-election.
Paula Wright was re-elected to the Duval County School Board, after defeating Darryl Willie in the District 4 race.
