Since 1883, the federal government has distributed official publications to public libraries to ensure free access to official information for all citizens. Since Aug. 26, 1914, Jacksonville’s public library has collected thousands of government publications on subjects from legal and military history to weather records and vital statistics. While some of the publications are for reference only, many are available for loan.

Rogers joins Colliers International team in Jacksonville

Colliers International Northeast Florida has added Scott Rogers to the Jacksonville investment team as vice president of investment sales.

Rogers has been in the commercial real estate business since 1983, working for a number of national firms specializing in appraisals and investment sales.

He graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s of business administration in real estate and finance.

Hyatt names business travel sales manager

The Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront has hired Robyn Crooks as business travel sales manager.

She brings more than 10 years of experience in the hotel industry and will be responsible for direct sales to the business travel market segment, including corporations, travel management accounts and retail travel agents.

The Georgia Southern graduate comes from the nearby Hampton Inn Southbank across the river and is vice president of the JAX Chamber’s Downtown Council.

Gastropub opening in Baymeadows

Whiskey Jax Kitchen & Cocktails will open next month at 10915 Baymeadows Road.

The gastropub will offer a “chef-inspired menu at an affordable price,” according to a news release.

The establishment will have an emphasis on whiskey flights and cocktails in addition to local craft beer on tap. Live music will be available most nights of the week.

Oram named president of Roadway Worker Training

Roadway Worker Training has named Dave Oram as president.

Founded in 2001, the company provides specialized training and support services of the railroad industry through four business divisions: RWT Signal Services, Railroad Protective Services, Focal Point Productions and RWT Training.

Oram has more than 38 years of experience in the railroad industry, including bridge design and construction, planning, track production and consulting.

McDonald taking over as CEO for Health Planning Council

Deanna McDonald will join the Health Planning Council as its new CEO, effective Tuesday.

McDonald will assume responsibility for the organization whose mission has been to champion health communities, lifestyle and accessible, quality health and wellness in Northeast Florida. It covers Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties.

McDonald is a certified public accountant who joins from Florida Blue, where she was group vice president for enterprise competitive transformation.

“My life and career have always been focused on supporting health and wellness as well as providing people with opportunities to embrace health lifestyles, which is at the core of the Health planning Council’s mission,” McDonald said in a news release.

The council board conducted a Southeast U.S. search and concluded McDonald “demonstrated she is an experienced health-care, financial and business executive with strong leadership and management skills” to help the organization, said board Chair Susan Ponder-Stansel in the release.

Deadline for Urban Land Institute nominations is Saturday

The call for nominations for the Urban Land Institute North Florida’s Awards of Excellence ends Saturday.

The real estate development community awards are the centerpiece of ULI’s efforts in North Florida to identify and promote best practices in all types of real estate development. The event is Oct. 9 at WJCT Studios.

There are five award categories: private sector; public sector, open space or nonprofit; Downtown; re-use or repurpose; and visionary leader.

Nomination fees are $500 for private sector and $200 for the public sector, open space and nonprofit category. Each nominated project will be named in announcements, with finalists highlighted in the event program.

Holman joins Commonwealth Commercial Partners

Commonwealth Commercial Partners has announced that Scott Holman has joined the firm as managing director of the company’s Florida’s operations.

He’ll be responsible for oversight of the current property portfolio, property acquisition, development strategy implementation and employee recruiting and development.

Holman has more than 25 years of experience in asset and property management, financial analysis, acquisitions and dispositions and development in the commercial real estate industry.

He was most recently the portfolio manager and regional director for the Southeast Region of the Jones Lang Lasalle affiliate, Lexington-MKP Management LP based in Tampa.

Holman earned a bachelor of science in building construction from the University of North Florida.
