W.P. Carey Inc., a New York real estate investment firm, announced Monday morning it has acquired the 88,000-square-foot Southpoint headquarters building for Acosta Inc.

W.P. Carey said it paid $17 million for the building at 6600 Corporate Center Parkway, which is visible from Interstate 95 just north of Butler Boulevard.

The property was built for Acosta in 2001 and houses more than 400 Acosta employees, according to W.P. Carey’s news release.

“Given W. P. Carey’s experience working with private equity portfolio companies and their owners, they were able to efficiently structure a transaction that met our financial objectives, close on a timely basis and provide a solid financial platform for the company on an ongoing basis,” Acosta President and CEO Robert Hill said in the news release.

Acosta, a sales and marketing company serving the supermarket industry, was acquired last year by buyout firm The Carlyle Group.
