Rick Mullaney, general counsel for the City, spoke to the Rotary Club Monday at the Omni, touching on several subjects.

“We are a community in transition of identifying itself,” said Mullaney. “The dramatic change we’re going through has at its heart a change of thinking. We have become a modern, progressive city. The rest of the state looks to Jacksonville as a model. They marvel at our $2.2 billion investment in the future [the Better Jacksonville Plan].”

Mullaney also told the group negotiations with AT&T regarding cable service are progressing, but there is a long way to go before the matter is settled.

“The mayor and [City Council member] Matt Carlucci met with AT&T,” said Mullaney. “An agreement [regarding complaints of poor service from the cable supplier] has been reached in principle but the devil is in the details. We’re trying to work it out but it’s difficult. We are optimistic, but it is far from resolved.”
