As law firm budgets have tightened, I am often asked about the benefits of joining The Jacksonville Bar Association and whether it is worth the membership fee.

Sitting inside the Dye’s Valley Chalet, overlooking the 16th and 17th holes of The Players Championship, the answer is obvious to me: Yes.

The JBA offers local attorneys so much bang for their buck and The Professionalism Conference at The Players Championship last week is a perfect example.

Chock-full of judges and offering five ethics credits, followed by an afternoon of golf and networking, it was the perfect mix of education and marketing.

The JBA constantly strives to bring its members events just like this.

The Law Day luncheon, Bench & Bar holiday party, CLE seminars, committees and sections, Lawyer Referral Service and member luncheons.

These are just a few of the ways the JBA works to bring its members benefits. Membership also comes with discounts at many local and statewide vendors.

But most of all, the JBA offers its members the chance to get to know one another on a social and personal level before they face each other in a case.

This is an invaluable asset for our clients and helps bring cases to a resolution efficiently and professionally.

So do yourself and your clients a favor and join.

If you’ve let your membership lapse, now is the time to renew. You will not regret it.
