University of North Florida chemistry professor Stuart Chalk was awarded a $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to establish a Chemical Informatics and Data Science Research Center on campus.

The center will focus on connecting chemical data to health, pharmacology and toxicology data to organize, process and interpret the data.

 “This project aims to build a digital infrastructure that will allow data to be integrated, so humans and machines can pose complicated questions and extract new knowledge automatically,”  Chalk said in a news release. 

Jax Federal Credit Union CEO to retire: Jax Federal Credit Union President and CEO Gerri Sexsion will retire in the first quarter of 2019.

She served in those roles since 1997. Executive search firm DDJ Myers will lead a projected four- to six-month national search for her replacement.

City honors River City Science Academy: Jacksonville City Council honored River City Science Academy for its 10th anniversary and for its Rocket Science Olympiad Team winning the state championship.
