Chamber looks for 700+

The Chamber’s 117th annual meeting may have a record attendance as over 500 reservations already have been received.

Meredith Goodrum, the Chamber staffer who’s coordinating Thursday night’s event at the Osborn Center, said she expects more tables to be sold in the next two days. It’s possible that 700 will be there.

The evening will have two highlights: the installation of the 2002 officers and board, and the naming of the Small Business Person of the Year.

Attorney Lynn Pappas of Pappas, Metcalf, Jenks & Miller will be installed as president — succeeding the first woman in that role, Baptist Health’s Carol Thompson — and Jim McCollum of BellSouth will move in as president-elect.

The evening starts with a 6 p.m. reception. the dinner and program start at 7.

Tickets are $75 each and corporate tables are $800.
