Citizens Property Insurance moving 1,038 employees Downtown

Citizens Property Insurance Corp. finalized its plans Friday morning to lease space Downtown in the EverBank Center.

The organization’s board unanimously approved the move that will consolidate operations and bring 1,038 jobs Downtown. Of those, 130 will come from Tallahassee and another 18 will relocate from Tampa — mostly in the IT field. The remaining are current Jacksonville employees on the Southside.

The tentative start date of the lease is start Sept. 1. Amkin West LLC owns the EverBank Center at 301 W. Bay St. Terms have Citizens able to take in excess of 232,000 square feet for a 10-year lease of $41.7 million.

In a statement, Mayor Alvin Brown welcomed the company and the more than 1,000 employees to Downtown. He called the move a “team effort” with EverBank Center and the JAX Chamber.

“Citizens’ move to Downtown really builds on the recent momentum of new shops opening, historic buildings being reinvigorated and excitement continuing to grow for the future,” he said.
