City plans to offer employees 6 weeks of paid maternity leave

The policy takes effect Oct. 1, pending approval by City Council.

Mayor Lenny Curry on Tuesday announced a new six-week paid maternity leave program for city, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department employees.

Men and women can take up to six-weeks paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child.

The policy takes effect Oct. 1, pending approval by City Council.
