Property owners of the closed Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar site near Queen’s Harbour Yacht & Country Club are figuring out what to do with it.
“We are actively seeking solutions,” said AJ Piel, senior vice president of asset management of New Jersey-based Stonebriar Commercial Finance.
He didn’t have details of what those might be. “That’s all I can say. We’re working on it,” Piel said.
Applebee’s franchisee Doherty Enterprises Inc. said in a statement the location at 13201 Atlantic Blvd. closed July 8.
Doherty said the staff was given an opportunity to relocate to its six other Jacksonville area Applebee’s restaurants.
It operates 37 restaurants in Florida.
Doherty, based in Allendale, New Jersey, did not respond to questions about why the restaurant closed.
An Applebee’s spokeswoman said it was a planned closure, meaning there was a change in the market or a trade agreement, but she did not have details.
The restaurant opened on the 1.5-acre site in late 1996. It is surrounded by retail stores, restaurants, professional offices and the nearby Queen’s Harbour gated residential community and other housing and apartments.
Stonebriar Commercial Finance, based in Princeton, bought the property in June 2016 for $1.85 million.
A Doherty contact’s name, telephone number and email are on a “for lease/sale” sign on the window.
Revlon will move its Professional Multicultural Business offices to the Prudential Building in San Marco as its Southside lease expires at year-end.
Spokesman Pamela Alabaster at New York headquarters said the business will move 50 employees. It now operates in Midtown Centre near the St. Nicholas area.
A pending building permit shows Revlon anticipates $100,000 in tenant improvements on the ninth floor at 701 San Marco Blvd. No contractor is specified.
Plans show 16 offices, several conference rooms, open office space with about 30 seats, a breakroom and more functions.
Build-out was approved for Lemongrass Thai Bistro at 14866 Old St. Augustine Road, No. 116, in The Shoppes at Flagler.
MW Master Builders Inc. is the contractor for the tenant build-out of 2,981 square feet of space at a project cost of $187,717.
Lemongrass posted on its Facebook page Feb. 21 that it was closing its Old Baymeadows Road location Feb. 24 and would expand at the Flagler address.
“The new Lemongrass will be gorgeous,” it said, thanking customers for helping “to make Lemongrass even better.”
Gate developing Beach Boulevard car wash
Gate Petroleum Co. is demolishing property at 10913 Beach Blvd. to make way for a Gate Express Carwash. Realco Recycling Co. Inc. will take down the 6,330 square feet of space at a project cost of $39,000.
Gate wants to build a 4,375-square-foot car wash on 1.39 acres there that it owns through BFC Property Holdings Inc. It bought the site in May.
The city approved renovations for the Florida Cracker Kitchen at 14329 Beach Blvd. at a project cost of $180,000.
B Cool Air Conditioning & Heating Inc. is the contractor for the project in the Pablo Station shopping center. A former tire store will be converted into a restaurant for Brooksville-based Florida Cracker.
Brothers Blair and Ethan Hensley are partnering with ServStar Management Group of Jacksonville Beach to open the Florida Cracker Kitchen, a tap room and the Florida Cracker Trading Co. Blair Hensley said in June that pending approvals, he hopes to open in 60-90 days.
Florida Cracker Kitchen will comprise a dining room, bar, private dining, kitchen, outdoor dining at the entrance and back patios for dining and the bar.
The plans show a 3,647-square-foot building for the restaurant and a separate small former car wash that will be converted for storage.
The Hensleys opened the original Florida Cracker restaurant in Brooksville in 2013 and, through meeting ServStar Vice President of Strategy Robert Tilka, will venture into Jacksonville.
Sleiman Enterprises is doing the landlord work in Baymeadows to prepare for the build-out for Maple Street Biscuit Co. at 8358 Point Meadows Drive, No. 1, in the Point Meadows shopping center. It’s a $70,000 job in the 2,879-square-foot space.
Wawa applied for demolition permits to take down three buildings for construction of its gas stations and convenience stores.
Wawa also applied for a permit to build the store at 13363 Beach Blvd. The 6,119-square-foot project carries a construction cost of $888,000.
