After agreeing in April to sell its television group, including two Jacksonville stations, Cox Enterprises Inc. said Wednesday it is selling its radio group, including six Jacksonville stations, to the same buyer.
Private equity funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management LLC agreed to buy Atlanta-based Cox’s group of 60 radio stations in 11 markets.
The group includes WAPE 95.1 FM, WJGL 96.9 FM, WEZI 102.9 FM, WXXJ 106.5 FM and WOKV 104.5 FM and 690 AM.
Cox’s portfolio of 14 television stations includes Fox network affiliate WFOX TV-30, and it also operates CBS affiliate WJAX TV-47 under a shared services agreement.
Cox said Apollo plans to continue running the radio and television operations together, along with an advertising business.
“Keeping these media businesses together gives us even more confidence in the future success of the new company. We have spent many years fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation across these businesses and are pleased to see that work will continue,” Cox CEO Alex Taylor said in a news release.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
