St. Johns County business leaders — led by Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Realty at World Golf Village — have joined together to form Community Alliance Funding Education (C.A.F.E.), a private foundation for public education in Northwest St. Johns County.

Although the goal is to eventually support all schools in this region, the initial programs will concentrate on Mill Creek Elementary.

C.A.F.E.’s emphasis will include computers and technology, school beautification, teacher appreciation, fundraising and publicity.

The foundation started after community leaders witnessed the success of the St. Johns County Educational Foundation. She called upon Alayna Oram, the company’s vice president of marketing, to assist with the efforts.

Oram was involved in the formation of a similar foundation while serving as director of marketing and sales services for River Valley Ranch in Aspen, Colo.

“The programs will have a dual purpose — they will educate the students while helping the school,” said Davidson. “For example, a school beautification project could incorporate an educational aspect on landscaping for the children.”

The foundation’s board of directors will consist of area business leaders, including Davidson, Oram and representatives from Mill Creek Elementary, the school board and other local companies.
