Dear Members,

What an honor it is for me to serve as your president in 2018. Serving on the board of directors and on the executive committee has given me a deep appreciation of what NEFBA stands for in the community and in the industry. I’ve had a behind-the-scenes look at the dynamic and cohesive partnerships between staff and members, between the executive committee and the president and between NEFBA and the region it serves.

All members can be proud to belong to this association. I invite all of you to share your talents and expertise in committees and councils and at board meetings to help NEFBA grow and assume an even stronger leadership role among homebuilders associations and in the community. As a third-generation builder, I have witnessed ups and downs in the industry over the years. I have had the good fortune to learn from my father, uncles and grandfather not only the trade, but the core business principles that are necessary for success. Many of you know my father, Richard, also served as president of NEFBA a few years ago (30 to be exact). My brother, Rick, and I appreciate his example, his wisdom and advice to this day.

I was recently asked to explain my underlying principles for success in business and in life. Let me share the wisdom of my Bolles School football coach, Corky Rogers: “Every day that ends in ‘y’ is a great day to get better.” That simple message still rings true. In fact, you may hear me say it once in awhile. I plan to carry it into the president’s office and hope it inspires you as much as it has me.

Thank you in advance for your support and help during this year and the challenges ahead. I look forward to getting to know you better.

Sincerely, Chris Dostie
