About 300 formally-clad people attended Downtown Dazzle, the 1930s-themed fundraiser for the St. John’s River City Band, last week at Hemming Plaza. Big band music, a silent auction and characters dressed in Great Depression era clothing were part of the party. “Cigarette” girls gave out sparklers to the guests and a young couple entertained the crowd with a swing dancing exhibition. Dazzle featured the music of the River City Band, Pretty Boy Freud, Lisa Kelly and jazz singer Dot Wilder along with an appearance by Ch. 4’s sportscaster Sam Kouvaris.
