When Gator Bowl Sports and the Jacksonville Sports Council kick off the JaxSports Speaker series next month, they’ll feature a speaker well versed in college football — just in time for the season.

ESPN College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit will be the first speaker for the series to be held quarterly. The inaugural event will be noon Aug. 21 Downtown at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront.

“We are extremely excited to have one of the nation’s top college football experts as our first guest speaker in the JaxSports Speaker Series,” Carl Cannon, chair of the council, said in a news release. “We are looking forward to having Kirk share his thoughts about the upcoming college football season and provide some insight into the new College Football Playoff era.”

Herbstreit played for Ohio State University in the early 1990s before joining ESPN as an analyst in 1995.

Tickets are $25 for JaxSports members and $50 for the public. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit jacksonvillesportscouncil.com.

The sports council is a division of Gator Bowl Sports and is a membership-based organization created to showcase Northeast Florida as a sports destination. It is a member of the National Association of Sports Commissions and the Florida Sports Foundation.
