EVE winners honored

Four Jacksonville women were honored Friday at the 43rd annual EVE Awards given by The Florida Times-Union. The EVE awards recognize nominated leaders in the fields of education, volunteer service and employment. Cheryl Bryan (left) was honored with the 14th Arnolta J. “Mama” Williams Lifetime Achievement Award for her work over more than 40 years to find a cure for cancer. Kristine Webb, director of the University of North Florida Disabilities Resource Center and a professor in the Department of Exceptional Student and Deaf Education, was honored in the field of education; Hope McMath, director of The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, was honored in the field of employment; and Cindy Edelman, an art history teacher at The Bolles School, was honored in the field of volunteer service. Former U.S. Ambassador Nancy Soderberg (right) was the keynote speaker at the event, held at the Hyatt Downtown.
