Freedom Commerce Centre, one of Jacksonville’s most visible and long-standing business parks, will soon be rebranded “Prominence” and its Baymeadows Road entrance re-built.

Owner Crocker Partners submitted plans to the city that show “Prominence” signs in shades of dark red, gray and black.

Pending city approvals, Crocker Partners will demolish and rebuild the entrance to Freedom Commerce Centre and the entrance feature, as well as clear and replant the landscape areas and medians.

England, Thims & Miller Inc. is the project engineer.

The new name heralds big changes at the 26-year-old business park, developed at Baymeadows Road and Interstate 95. The business park sits between Philips Highway and I-95. It initially was developed from 1988-98 by Koger Equity Inc.

The business center was one of the area’s first larger suburban office parks and was developed in what has become a heavily traveled business, retail and Florida tourist corridor.

Crocker Partners of Boca Raton bought the 54-acre office park in December 2012 and said it would rename the property as well as make a multimillion-dollar capital improvement to the property.

Since then, it has invested more than $1 million in renovating the common areas of two of the seven office buildings in the park and also invested in building out space for new and expanding tenants.

No cost is attached to the plans for the entry renovations.

Crocker intends to upgrade and renovate the property, comprising seven buildings totaling 752,154 square feet of office space, with modern design features, landscaping and parking upgrades.

Crocker said upgrades to the individual buildings will include a new facade for the lobbies, restrooms and elevator cabs, as well as installation of new lighting fixtures throughout the properties.

Crocker Partners V Freedom LLC bought the seven buildings in late 2012 for $27.8 million.
