Deborah Gianoulis Heald, an education advocate and former anchor of WJXT Channel 4, has been named president and CEO of the Schultz Center for Teaching & Leadership.

Current President and CEO Barbara Langley is retiring and will stay through the end of the year to assist with the transition.

Gianoulis Heald served on the Schultz Center board for five years before being elected chair in May 2011.

The center announced Gianoulis Heald’s appointment Wednesday and also said it pledged $1 million to establish the Jacksonville Teaching and Leading Collaborative, which it described as “a group of community partners focused on effective teaching and leading in Duval County Public Schools.”
