Former Vice President Al Gore was in town Wednesday to help raise money and support for state and local Democratic candidates. After a stop at The University Club, Gore visited the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union No. 177 on North Liberty Street. An enthusiastic crowd of about 350 greeted Gore and several other candidates and current local, state and federal elected officials.

Also on hand were State Attorney Harry Shorstein, mayoral candidate Tommy Hazouri, U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, State representatives Tony Hill, Terry Fields and Betty Holzendorf, School Board members Gwen Gibson and City Council members Suzanne Jenkins, Pat Lockett-Felder, King Holzendorf and Gwen Yates.
