President and CEO Joey D. Batchelor leads one of the seven companies honored.
Ernst & Young LLP announced that Joey D. Batchelor, president and CEO of Jacksonville-based Guardian Fueling Technologies, is one of seven winners of the Entrepreneur Of The Year Florida Award.
The winners were named in a virtual awards gala Oct. 8. Ernst & Young is the founder and producer of the awards.
“We all come to work every day with a pretty simple philosophy, but that philosophy is to figure out how to win, today,” Batchelor said in a video from the awards ceremony.
A judging panel evaluated nominees based on six criteria, including overcoming adversity; financial performance; societal impact and commitment to building a values-based company; innovation; and talent management. The panel comprised previous award winners.
Here are the other Florida winners:
• Maurice R. Ferré, Insightec Inc., Miami.
• Chris Gannon, Bolay Restaurant Partners, Palm Beach Gardens.
• Taylor Hamilton and Jesse Tomalty, reCommerce, Deerfield Beach.
• Dagan T. Kasavana, Phoenix Tower International, Boca Raton.

“We are proud to announce the 2020 Florida winners, unstoppable leaders who have thrived in adversity and continue to fuel growth around the globe. They are a wonderful addition to our global alumni community of past winners, and we look forward to supporting them as they continue to make an impact,” Pattillo said.
The Florida winners are eligible for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020 National Awards that will be announced Nov. 19. Those winners will compete for World Entrepreneur Of The Year.
Founded and produced by Ernst & Young LLP, the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards are nationally sponsored by SAP America and the Kauffman Foundation. In Florida, sponsors include PNC and the Orlando Business Journal.
