Jacksonville hotel occupancy up over previous week, but far down from 2019

The average room rate is about 27% less than last year.

Duval County’s hotels reported an increase in business during the week ended May 3, according to data released by Visit Jacksonville.

Occupancy increased 8.9% compared to the week before, representing about 5,000 more rooms sold.

The average room rate also increased by $3.80, to $72.91 – about 27% less than the same week in 2019.

The report states that, even with the positive trend, occupancy was about 50% lower compared to the same week in the past three years.

For the month ended May 3, occupancy was down about 50%, the average room rate was down 35% and area room revenue was down nearly 70%, compared to the same period in 2019.
