Guest Speaker: The Florida Bar President Terry Russell

Terrence Russell was born and raised in Jacksonville where he attended Bishop Kenny High School. He received an associate of arts degree from Saint Leo College in 1964 and then received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Florida in 1966. In 1968, he received his juris doctorate degree from Florida State University where he was assistant editor of Florida Public Defender’s Trial Manual (1968), a member of the Gold Key Honorary Leadership Fraternity and chief of the Student Government Judicial Branch (1968). After clerking for a United States District Judge in the Southern District of Florida, he joined the law firm now known as Ruden, McClosky, Smith, Schuster & Russell, P.A. in Ft. Lauderdale. He is a board certified civil trial lawyer and business litigation lawyer who concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation including foreclosures, antitrust, securities and product liability defense. He is a longtime member of The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section. He and his wife of 35 years, Mary Kay, a religious education teacher and community volunteer, have two children — Cristine, admitted to The Florida Bar in 1998 and practicing in Jacksonville, and Greg, a fourth-year medical student at the University of South Florida.
