The owner of Karl’s Clothiers is expanding his business into San Marco.

Jay Jabour, who has shops in Avondale and Ponte Vedra Beach, will open his third Karl’s sometime this spring.

“I’m excited to bring men’s clothing back to San Marco,” said Jabour, who will also include ladies wear in the San Marco store.

Jabour said he’ll continue the tradition of offering Jacksonville high-end men’s brands, but will shift towards clothing that is a little more traditional.

He carries brands such as Cyrus and Anne Klein for women, and the Brioni suits he stocks attracts people from as far away as Savannah who want to invest in a quality hand-made piece.

“It takes 21 hours to make one suit,” said Jabour, adding this is the brand Pierce Brosnan wears in the James Bond movies. “So many people say you can’t find high-end clothing in Jacksonville, but that just isn’t true. We were the first people to carry Armani and Hugo Boss.”

Jabour, who is running for the District 5 City Council seat, said he is excited to have a location in San Marco.

“It’s a nice size store and it’s laid out right,” said Jabour, who will make a few changes to the 2,500 square-foot space.

“It already has warmth to it, but I’ll update it and bring it on line with the rest of San Marco.”

He’ll also do some exterior work, removing an old awning and adding a new color scheme.

“I feel at home when I’m in San Marco,” he said. “It just fits the bill.”
