Kathy’s Table, which prepares gluten- and dairy-free meals for delivery and pickup, is adding a Five Points location at 826 Lomax St. in Riverside.

The grand opening is Aug. 31 in the location that previously housed Gloss Goods.

“We have been wanting a location on the other side of the St. Johns River, and Riverside is a great area to be in right now,” says Dan Godwin, co-owner.

The Jacksonville-based Kathy’s Table concept is based at 7035 Philips Highway and has a Beaches location.

Kathy’s Table LLC’s corporate managing member is Kathy Godwin. Her husband, Dan Godwin, is manager. He said they expect sales of about $4 million this year.

Dan Godwin said the Riverside address was offered soon after they opened the Philips Highway location in February 2016. They weren’t ready to expand at the time.

The property manager stayed in touch and told Godwin a few months ago the site would be available, “so I told him we would be interested.”

Plans show Kathy’s Table will open in 420 square feet.

The city plans to make improvements in the area starting in the first quarter, Godwin said. The work is part of a Five Points improvement project.

“I believe that will only help increase business for us,” Godwin said.

Kathy’s Table specializes in delivery of health-based prepared meals. There also are 11 pickup locations, and the stores offer a la carte meals and grab-and-go foods.

The meals are prepared at the Philips Highway location.

Kathy Godwin, a former personal trainer and yoga instructor, launched Kathy’s Table as a small home startup about six years ago, cooking first at her grandmother’s house and then moving to a commissary.

She then moved to Philips Highway and expanded in May 2018 to the Beaches.

According to kathystable.com, in 1994, Kathy Godwin was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel disorder that affects digestion.

She discovered that by changing her diet and following her doctor’s prescribed medication regimen, she could reduce the effects of the disease, improve her physical performance and lead a normal, healthy lifestyle, the site says.

The secret was eating whole foods and eliminating grains, lactose and refined sugar. She shared her success and what started as a personal food blog evolved into Kathy’s Table.

Kathy’s Table changes its menu regularly.

The Aug. 12-24 menu includes breakfasts, desserts, meals, juices and a snack box.

Meal examples include steak and eggs, chocolate turtle protein bars, pesto chicken salad, salmon croquette, Jamaican jerk cod and a vegan burger.

Meal prices are in the $8-$9 range.
