Hundreds of building industry professionals wearing tuxedos, evening gowns and festive masquerade masks celebrated their industry’s outstanding contributors of 2018 at the 23rd annual Laurel Awards Feb. 1 at TIAA Bank Field.
The event recognized builders, developers, architects, planners, interior designers, remodelers, Realtors and sales and marketing professionals who distinguished themselves by delivering their best for the betterment of the industry.
Winners walked a red carpet to a stage, where trophies and plaques were handed out in scores of categories. Many included gold-level and silver-level awards.
Sponsor Rita Williams, owner of Merchandising Plus, said she helped start the Laurel Awards “a thousand years ago” with “a whole bunch” of others.
Their goal: “To show what beautiful homes we build. We build the American Dream —everybody here. It takes a real army and we are a good one,” she said.
“Everyone in this room should be proud of what they accomplished this year,” NEFBA President Sean Junker said in an introductory speech. “Good luck to everyone this evening.”
Williams said everyone is a winner who belongs to NEFBA, “because everybody mentors everybody else. From dirt to dollars, we get a piece of dirt and say ‘what are we going to do with it?’ It takes a team.”
The Grand Laurel Award went to ICI Homes, for winning the most awards during the evening.
The event, which included dinner and drinks, was presented by the Northeast Florida Builders Association as well as the NEFBA Sales and Marketing Council; NEFBA Remodelers; NEFBA Professional Women in Building; Mattamy Homes; Micamy Design Studio; and Bank of England Mortgage.

Model and community awards included the best sales leasing center, community welcome center, community amenity, design center, single family homes, landscape designs, outdoor living spaces, interior merchandising of a model and multifamily model home.
Remodeler awards included the best whole house remodel, room addition, kitchen remodel, remodel of an outdoor amenity, interior transformation, commercial remodel office build-out, commercial remodel retail build-out and one-of-a-kind custom home.
Marketing awards included the best logo design, brochure builder, brochure master planned community, social media campaign, Facebook page, Pinterest page, Instagram page, digital marketing campaign, special award for marketing program, print ad, print campaign-series of ads, 30- to 60-second commercial, long video format, overall advertising campaign, custom promotional event, Realtor promotional event, annual lifestyle program for a community, website for a national builder, website for a community and website for a remodeler.
Million dollar circle awards included on-site agents representing builders, real estate agents representing builders, real estate agents representing buyers and individual lenders facilitating $35 million to $40 million in loans.
Production awards included top producer on-site agents awards, top producer internet sales consultant, and top producer real estate agent.
The 24th Annual Sales and Marketing Council Laurel Awards honored Northeast Florida homebuilders and Realtors in dozens of categories.
