How did you become involved?

I was born into community involvement as my family owned a weekly community newspaper in Texas and we attended every community event in town. I started writing news and feature articles for our newspaper when I was still in junior high school and continued doing so even into law school.

How can someone become get involved?

Jacksonville is very rich in opportunities for individuals to become involved. There is something for every taste, e.g., K9s For Warriors, The Homeless Coalition, The Apple Project providing free dentistry to those who do not have access to dental care, the Jacksonville Humane Society and many programs for foster children, to name a few. And they all need volunteers. Attorneys in particular can volunteer for “Ask-A-Lawyer” giving free legal advice and for programs bridging the gap and providing legal services to people caught in domestic violence relationships.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?

Fulfillment, enlightenment and contentment.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

“Rabbi Jesus: An Intimate Biography” by Bruce Chilton.
