Trial seminar in April

The 5th annual Ray Ehrlich Trial Advocacy Seminar will be April 7 at the Radisson Riverwalk Hotel. Featured presenters and topics include Roger Dodd on Cross Examination, Henry Trawick on Civil Procedure and Charles Erhardt on the Development of the law of Evidence. The program will include individual presentations, panel discussions and an award presentation at lunch. The costs is $250 for members of the Jacksonville Bar Association and $275 for non-members.

State Bar symposium

The Florida Bar Association’s Equal Opportunities Law Section will hold its annual diversity symposium April 27-28 at the Florida A & M College of Law in Orlando. Veteran civil rights attorney Fred Gray will be the featured speaker at the symposium titled “A progress report on diversity in Florida’s legal profession.” On-line registration starts in February.

YLS and Special Olympics

The Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar is currently preparing for the Duval County Special Olympics Spring Track and Field Competition Feb. 28 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pine Castle. The YLS supports the Special Olympics each year by providing volunteers and assistance in coordinating the various events. Anyone wanting to participate should contact Kirby Oberdorfer at [email protected].

Also, March 9 the YLS will present its Tee-It-Up golf Tournament at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club from noon-6 p.m. to benefit the I. M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless. In its inaugural year, the tournament raised nearly $25,000 for daniel. Foursomes are available for $1,000 and a foursome together with the sponsorship of one hole is $1,250. Jail time for attorney

Palm Beach attorney Donald Mintmire, 61, was sentenced Thursday to a year and nine months on obstruction and conspiracy charges. He was found guilty last year of obstructing a grand jury investigation into the demise of Stuart citrus firm Clements Golden Phoenix Enterprises and conspiracy to obstruct justice related to an SEC probe into a Mintmire-controlled firm called Fundae.
