Mayoral candidate Lenny Curry has raised just under $1 million in his first three months of campaigning.

Curry’s political action committee raised $173,500 during the last week of August. So far, Together for a Greater Jacksonville has collected $694,100 since Curry announced in early June he would challenge Mayor Alvin Brown.

Through the end of July, Curry has raised $246,933 in his local campaign account. The August report is due this week.

The campaign has wanted to beat the $862,000 former Mayor John Peyton raised in one quarter when he was seeking re-election.

Brown raised $73,000 in the last week of August, including receiving $25,000 from attorney Wayne Hogan. To date, his political action committee (Taking Jacksonville to the Next Level) and his local account have collected just over $1.5 million.

Businessman Peter Rummell again donated to Curry’s PAC, this time giving $50,000. In June, he and his wife donated $25,000 each to the PAC. Rummell publicly endorsed Curry two months before he announced his candidacy.

Other five-figure donations in the latest report are from Hutson Companies and Felix Crawford, which each gave $25,000; philanthropist Robert Shircliff and Thomas Robert each gave $15,000; Pentagon Properties, $12,500; and Guardian Fueling Technologies, $10,000.

City Council member Bill Bishop has raised $40,870 through the end of July.

The remaining candidates — Omega Allen, Marvin Kramer and Tiffany Wingo — have raised $600, $25 and nothing, respectively.
