With 13 years in the entertainment and recording business plus an artist she wanted to bring to Jacksonville from Miami, Sheila Vasser, president and CEO of Ligit Recordings & Event Studio, has arrived Downtown.
She looked everywhere for a studio that would fit the needs of her artist but, “We couldn’t find the sound, the price or the engineers,” said Vasser.
She started building her new state-of-the-art digital recording studio in August and will have the grand opening next Friday at 108 E. Adams St.
Two studios, one large enough for a five-piece band, are ready to be booked by the hour any time day or night.
Vasser said the facility is designed to record bands, solo artists and voice-overs for radio and television commercials.
“We encourage the artists to record their product on an external hard drive. That way, they can keep control of their music,” she said.
With a brand-new studio, two producers and two engineers, Vasser said she is ready to launch a new record label.
The business also has a furnished space with a large-screen projection TV that Vasser said can be used for meetings, parties or even bridal showers.
Future plans include a photography studio and CD duplication services in order to provide everything an artist needs to go from concept to the finished product, she said.
When it was time to make the decision about where to locate the studio, Vasser said it came down to location, location, location.
“Downtown is thriving and the spot to be and it could use some variety,” said Vasser. “We had the opportunity to be Downtown, so we said, ‘why not?’”
