The Jacksonville Hotel & Motel Association (JH&MA) gathered Tuesday at the Adam’s Mark Hotel to pledge its support for the 2005 Super Bowl and the Host Committee. “We want to rally hotels to support the community as host of the Super Bowl,” said Joe Hockenbury, president of the JH&MA and general manager of the Radisson. “The Super Bowl and the Host Committee have our full support and we plan on playing an active role in preparing our city for the game. In order to have 100 percent of the contracts signed by the end of the year, we are pleased to offer counsel to any hotel or motel that may need assistance.” According to the Host Committee, it is two-thirds of the way toward its goal of securing 17,500 rooms, which includes cruise ship accommodations. “Our goal has always been to have cruise ship and hotel contracts secured by the end of the year,” said Mike Kelly, Host Committee president and COO. “I have full confidence in our hotel community that they will pull together to help us achieve that objective.”
