Michael Maher, founding director of the Charleston Civic Design Center, has withdrawn from consideration for CEO of the City’s Downtown Investment Authority.

Bonnie Garraway, spokeswoman for Jorgenson Consulting, the firm contracted for the CEO search, confirmed Maher’s withdrawal. She said Monday afternoon Maher had been offered an “expanded position” with the design center, but had no further information.

Kevin Hanna, director of real estate for the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority, and Aundra Wallace, executive director for the Detroit Land Bank, remain in consideration for the post.

They are finalists to become the inaugural CEO of the recently created authority.

Final interviews by the authority’s board are scheduled at 9 a.m. Thursday in the First Floor Training Room at the Ed Ball Building at 214 N. Hogan St. The interviews are open to the public.
