Mayor John Delaney has named Sharen Jarzen chief of the Planning, Research and Grants Division in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Entertainment and Darrell Griffin Sr. chief of the Housing Services Division in the Department of Planning and Development.
Both appointments require City Council confirmation.
Jarzen has a wide range of experience in strategic planning, research and grant applications. She is currently the manager of local government services for the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center. Previously, she co-owned a private business that assisted cities and towns with grants, comprehensive planning and zoning issues.
Griffin has worked for the Planning and Development Department for the last 12 years, serving most recently as a program manager, where he managed the daily operations of single-family housing rehabilitation activities, including the Springfield Historic Acquisition and Rehabilitation program and the Springfield Facade program.
