The city is reviewing a construction permit application for the four-story, 125,769-square-foot office building to be leased to McKesson Corp. in Southside Quarter. No construction cost is included.

The building is planned on 7.75 acres at 6651 Gate Parkway. Elkins Construction LLC is the contractor. It also was the contractor for the $3.5 million foundation project.

McKesson said in January it agreed to anchor the building. Houston-based Hines said it would lease the structure to McKesson’s Medical-Surgical business.

City Council approved a $700,000 Recapture Enhanced Value grant that calls for McKesson to retain 428 jobs and create at least 10 more at an average salary of $45,562.

Construction must be completed by the end of 2019. McKesson has said it intends to relocate from Southpoint to the new building in the summer of 2019.

The office building is the first of two planned at Southside Quarter, which is at southwest Butler Boulevard and Interstate 295.
