Miami mayor visits Salvation Army center

As part of a statewide effort to implement a prekindergarten program providing four-year-old children in Florida with a quality learning opportunity, including a chance to learn to read, Miami Mayor Alex Penelas visited Jacksonville Thursday. Accompanied by mayoral candidate Tommy Hazouri, who would like to see the program adopted locally, Penelas was given a tour of the Salvation Army’s Child Development Center where he treated the youngsters to a reading of “The Cat In the Hat.”
