The dining room will open at 5 p.m. daily, closing at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The bar opens at 4 p.m. daily and will offer “Power Hour” from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

Shawn Mason is the general manager and Carla McCully is the sales and event manager.

A menu available at a VIP preview event Thursday evening showed prime steaks and chops from $42 for a 6-ounce center-cut filet mignon to $117 for a 48-ounce porterhouse steak for two.

Signature dishes ranged from $28 for Chicken Bianco to $48 for an 8-ounce cold-water lobster tail.

The menu also listed appetizers, soups, salads, mixed grills, side dishes and potatoes.

Houston-based Morton’s previously operated on the Southbank, but closed in early 2012 as part of shutdowns after a change in ownership.

It is leasing about 6,900 square feet of restaurant space that formerly housed the former Plaza III The Steakhouse, which closed in 2009.

The city approved a building permit in April for a $434,318 construction project that included interior finishes, millwork, new light fixtures and modifications to the bar area.
