Neighborhood Matching Grants totaling $218,617 have been awarded to 53 Jacksonville communities.
Neighborhood organizations and other community groups that have been in existence for six months may apply for grants of up to $5,000 for projects and programs to enhance their communities. Recipients must match the money — which comes from the city’s general fund and Community Development Block Grant funding — with cash, in-kind services or volunteer labor.
Since the annual program started in 1996, matching grants have funded 437 projects or programs with a total of $1.86 million. Including the communities’ matches, that is more than $3.72 million worth of improvements to Jacksonville’s neighborhoods.
