New staff at State Attorney's office includes division chief

The State Attorney’s Office welcomed 13 new assistant state attorney’s (ASA) to its prosecution team recently.

“I am very pleased to add these superb young men and women to the State Attorney team. We worked hard to attract a diverse group of talented attorneys to join us in the fight against crime,” said State Attorney Angela Corey. “These new assistant state attorneys will report to County Court and assume an active caseload in the Fourth Judicial Circuit.”

Fresh ideas and sharp skills are not the only assets these new hires bring to the office; the diversity in their education and experiences will prove beneficial.

Case Darwin is from the University of Texas and Texas Tech Law, Rusty McCormick is returning home to Jacksonville after working as a public defender in Kentucky. Shana Loomar is from Rutgers University and Vermont Law School. T.J. Bryant, Joe Teichert, Beverly Collins and Kevin Healey are University of Florida Law School graduates. Jessica Goodwin and Peter Overstreet join the team from Florida State University College of Law. Florida Coastal Law is represented by John Marees and Sandra Rosendale.

Along with these new additions, the Corey also announced the hiring of James Colaw, previously an assistant state attorney in the Eighth Judicial Circuit. Colaw has significant experience in the prosecution of homicide and major crimes, and received National and Florida Board Certification. He will be assigned as a Division Chief to the Clay County Office.
