Mission
To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Serving Jacksonville
The Salvation Army is an international movement begun and headquartered in London, England. Established in Jacksonville in 1891 with our territorial headquarters in Atlanta, Ga.

Those served
Six-county area of Duval, Nassau, Clay, St. Johns, Putnam and Baker. We run more than 20 local programs and some clients are served in more than one program and at different times of the year. In total, including duplicated clients, we served more than 600,000 individuals in 2010.

Biggest challenge
At the moment due to the economy, the challenge is financing The Salvation Army programs.  

Biggest satisfaction
Seeing God at work in people’s lives.

Hometown
Born in Staunton, Va., but moved around the Southeastern U.S.

First experience with community service
I have grown up in The Salvation Army as my church home and was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer/minister in 1984.

Upcoming events
March 10: The Women’s Auxiliary 25th Celebrity Chefs at the Osborn Center. The silent auction begins at 10:30 a.m. and the Tasting Luncheon is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tickets are $30, including entry, parking and a cookbook. Information: 301-4841.
