The Out to Lunch! series in Hemming Plaza ends Friday and the response has been favorable from the downtown lunch crowd.

“It makes a nice lunch hour,” said Diane Whitehead of Cole Stone, Stoudemire & Morgan, who enjoys lunch in Hemming Plaza daily. “Every musical group that has been out here has been very good.”

The series, sponsored by Downtown Vision, Inc., will return in September.

Jess Pillmore, a folk rock singer, entertained the crowd Wednesday.

“This is my last gig in Jacksonville before I head out on tour,” said Pillmore. “I have just released my latest CD, ‘Slightly Skewed’ and am promoting it here and on tour.”

Shelley Thurmond of Foley & Lardner and her co-workers say the series has added to their lunch hour.

“We come out here every day,” said Thurmond. “We try and find shade. It is a nice atmosphere to have lunch.”
