About 2,000 people attended what was billed as the Party of the Year at the Osborn Center last week. In addition to the local celebrities discussing the future of Jacksonville at the Red Hot Pepper Club, there were six other highly decorated rooms. The first, Eye of Ra, featured an Egyptian theme and faux gambling; Cirque Nouveau had a French theme; Carnival of Venice was Italian and had a pasta bar; Knight of the Realm was medieval; Under the Sea had mermaids and sushi; and Quazar, the quasi dance club had techno music and local dancers. There was also a throw-together game of “Family Feud” in the main lobby. Everyone from City Council members to Jacksonville Jaguars players — many in costume — enjoyed the food and beverages. The production, orchestrated by PRI Inc. and the Chamber of Commerce was a reincarnation of the party from two years ago at Alltel Stadium.
