• Robin Sorensen, CEO and co-founder of Firehouse Subs, has been appointed to the Police Athletic League board of directors. Sorensen will serve a five-year term.

• The Rotary Club of Arlington has installed its officers for 2002-03. They are Ron McVay, president; Angie Tekin, president-elect; Ballard Simmons, vice president; Robert Brown Jr., secretary; Jim Tom Richardson, treasurer; Lisa Carter and Paul Woods, sergeant-at-arms; and Teresa Sopp, past president.

• The 2002 Catholic Charities board of directors was installed recently. They are Mark Allen, chair; Jeff Quartius, vice chair; T. Fitch King III, secretary/treasurer; and Julie Krey, chair emeritus. Board members are Maria Aquila, Shirley Anderson, Sandy Barata, James Benz, David D. Boree, Leo Bottary, Mark Bowen, Grace Brown, Doug Byrne, G. • For the 62nd consecutive year, the National Bible Association is sponsoring National Bible Week. This year it’s Nov. 24-Dec. 1 and Dick Murphy, NBA chair and mayor of San Diego, is asking the City of Jacksonville to participate by issuing a proclamation.

• Volunteer Jacksonville’s Blueprint for Leadership is taking applications for the class of 2003. The deadline for nominees is Sept. 30. To nominate someone call Betty Asque Davis at 398-7777 or e-mail at [email protected].

• The Society for Marketing Professional Services North Florida Chapter has named its board of directors for 2002-03. They are Marilyn Nehring, president; John Irvin, president-elect; Heather Hahn, secretary; J.D. Loudermill, treasurer; Andrea Schultz, public relations; Barbara Trombetta, membership chair; Deno Hicks, education chair; Tanya Fugitt, program co-chair; and Cantrece Armstrong, program co-chair. At-large members are Dorrie Felder, Karl Roberts, Kimberly Waterhouse, Melissa Kish and Gary Mahan.

• Kim Dronzek of The Stellar Group and Barbara Goldberg of the North Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America served as delegates at the Executive Women International’s leadership conference in Chicago last week. Janet Keister of The Stellar Group and Amy Herron of the MPS Group served as alternates.

• Filip Feller has been named chief financial officer and senior vice president at Monticello Bank.

• Sandy Friend has been named national director of training for The Loop Pizza Grill. Friend will be responsible for developing and implementing constructive training programs for new employees and will act as liaison for additional training resources to better train existing employees.

• Trish Ridgway-Kapustka has joined the Kurtis Group as director of business strategy. She will be responsible for account management, new business development and marketing and public relations strategy.
